ZS Series: A new approach to passive filters

Champion ONE’s new ZS series of CWDM and DWDM passive optical filters feature a reimagined channel configuration that improves ease of use based on the logic of networks

New Design

Benefits of the new design include:

  • Simplified language. Instead of referring to the sides as “Mux” and “Demux,” we’ve used the same transmit (T) and receive (R) terminology as the transceivers they connect to. This eliminates a lot of the guesswork and complexity out of your connections – just connect the transceiver’s transmit with the passive’s receive (and vice versa), and you’re ready to go.
  • Simplified connections. The new design takes into account the easiest use of LC duplex fibers, as shown below):

The old design required snapping the clip in half to connect both sides, one on top of the other. The improved design moves each channel’s T and R side by side, so the fiber cable can be used with the clip intact.

Additionally, the T and R on the bottom row of the passive filter are in reversed positions from the top row.

This allows easier access to the connector clip from underneath without having to twist the fiber to match the transceiver’s orientation.
