Fiber Characterization Testing

Maximize your fiber optic network with Champion ONE’s fiber characterization service. The tests we’ll perform for you can be customized to your specific needs, to ensure your network is running at optimal efficiency. This test will isolate and resolve issues with the fiber (as detailed below), and provide you with a complete report full of our industry-leading analysis.

What do we test?

Optical Return Loss (ORL)
The sum of all artifacts reflecting back to the source including connectors, fiber impurities, and Rayleigh Backscattering.

Optical Time Domain Reflectometer
The bi-directionally averaged plots of power vs. distance identifying artifacts on a fiber under test.

Bidirectional Loss
The absolute loss bi-directionally averaged of a fiber that includes the front and back end connectors and each artifact along the fiber.

Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD)
The measurement of delay caused by fiber asymmetries while light travels down perpendicular paths of a single mode fiber reaching the opposite end at different times.

Chromatic Dispersion (CD)
The measurement of delay caused by on-zero spectral width transmitters travelling down a single mode fiber at multiple speeds that reaches the opposite end of the fiber at varying times.

New Networks
Purchasers of existing fiber networks benefit from a trusted third-party evaluation qualifying their fiber path.

Network Upgrades
Ensuring the fiber supports network equipment or other elements in network changes that may affect successful transmission.
